The Context — The History
Psalm 95 is a call to worship used in Israel's liturgy, inviting the community to rejoice before the Lord who made the sea and dry land. It also warns against hardening hearts as in the wilderness, linking celebration with obedient listening.

The psalm opens with corporate invitation to joyful song and loud praise to the Rock of salvation. It calls nations to bow before the Lord our Maker and Shepherd. Later it urges openness to his voice today, unlike rebellious Israel at Meribah.
