The Context — The History
Elisha served during Aramean wars when Israel faced raids and siege. Dothan was a town where prophets trained, and Syrian armies saw Elisha as a strategic threat because of his divine insight.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Aramean soldiers surrounded Dothan to capture Elisha. His servant panicked at the army, but Elisha prayed for opened eyes to see horses and chariots of fire—then assured him the heavenly host outnumbered the enemy.
