The Context — The History
Ephesians 5 calls believers to imitate God as beloved children. In a Greco-Roman world of patron gods and moral confusion, Paul roots ethics in the Father's love and forgiving character.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
After urging forgiveness as God in Christ forgave, Paul calls believers to walk in love as Christ loved and gave himself. They are to imitate God as dear children.
