The Context — The History
Jesus spoke in Galilee to people crushed by religious legalism and Roman oppression. Scribes and Pharisees had multiplied rules, while ordinary Jews carried heavy spiritual and social burdens.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Jesus had denounced cities that rejected His message and praised the Father for revealing truth to the humble. He then extends an open invitation to all who labor under heavy loads to find rest in Him.
