Day 1: God loves a cheerful giver
Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.
Giving can become guilt or performance. Paul aims at cheerful trust.
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly… Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Is your giving reluctant, compulsive, or cheerful?
Practice: Give one gift today with glad intention, not pressure. Lord, form a cheerful giver’s heart. Amen.
