Day 1: God opposes the proud
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
Pride is not confidence; it is competition with God. James is blunt about the stakes.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humility is the doorway to grace; pride picks a fight with God.
Where might God be opposing a proud posture in you?
Practice: Ask a trusted person where they see pride in you—and listen. Lord, give grace to a humbled heart. Amen.
