Day 1: Call it what it is
I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn't hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
This reading plan is pastoral Scripture study, not crisis counseling or medical care. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number. In the US and Canada, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Reach a trusted pastor, counselor, or doctor alongside these daily readings. Addiction thrives when we rename it. David found relief in honest confession.
“I acknowledged my sin to you… and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.” Naming the bondage before God is the beginning of mercy, not the end of dignity.
What word have you been avoiding—dependence, craving, out-of-control?
Practice: Confess the true name of the struggle to God aloud. Lord, I acknowledge this before You. Cover me with mercy. Amen.
