The Context — The History
Psalm 96 is an enthronement hymn calling all nations to recognize the Lord's glory. Israel's worship was never meant to stay private; the God who judged idols and ruled the world deserved fresh praise from the whole earth and every people.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
The psalm summons a new song to the Lord, proclaiming salvation day after day among the nations. It declares God's greatness, splendor, and worthiness of glory. Creation itself should rejoice because the Lord comes to judge the earth with righteousness.
