The Context — The History
Psalm 62 is a quiet trust psalm, likely composed when David faced political threats. Surrounded by attackers who seemed stable yet were fragile, David anchored his soul in God alone as rock, salvation, and source of hope rather than in human schemes.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
David waits in silence for God alone, warning against trusting in extortion or riches. People of low and high position are fleeting. Twice he tells his soul to wait for God alone. Here he urges his soul to find rest in God because hope comes from him.
