The Context — The History
Zephaniah prophesied during Josiah's reform when Assyrian power waned and hope stirred in Judah. Remnant language promised a humble people restored after judgment on pride and idolatry.

After warnings of the day of the LORD, Zephaniah paints restoration for the meek. God not only saves but delights in his people, rejoicing over them with joyful singing like a bridegroom.
