The Context — The History
Jesus ministered in Jerusalem during a festival, healing a disabled man at the pool of Bethesda. Religious leaders increasingly challenged His authority and His claims about God.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Jesus healed the man on the Sabbath, provoking opposition. He then taught that the Son gives life and judges, and declared that hearing His word and believing the Father grants eternal life and escape from judgment.
