The Context — The History
Hosea called Israel to return to the Lord during a period of prosperity that masked deep idolatry and injustice. Chapter 10 compares the nation to a luxuriant vine that bears fruit for itself rather than God.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Israel trusted military alliances and idols instead of the Lord. Hosea urged them to break up unplowed ground — hardened hearts — and sow righteousness, seeking God until He sends righteousness like rain.
