The Context — The History
Psalm 29 portrays the Lord as king over the storm, whose voice thunders across creation. After depicting God's power breaking cedars and shaking wilderness, the psalm closes with blessing for his people, strength and peace granted from the cosmic King.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
The psalm calls heavenly beings to ascribe glory to the Lord whose voice rolls like thunder over waters and mountains. Worshipers in the temple cry Glory! The psalm ends with the Lord enthroned over the flood, giving strength and peace to his people.
