The Context — The History
Moses' final sermons on the plains of Moab framed Israel's future as a genuine decision before witnesses of creation itself. Covenant renewal was not abstract theology but an urgent call to choose life for themselves and coming generations.

Deuteronomy 30 promised that God's command was not too difficult, for repentance and return were possible even after exile. Moses set life and death, blessing and curse before the people, calling heaven and earth as witnesses and urging them to choose life.
