The Context — The History
The heavenly chorus echoes Isaiah's vision of God's glory filling the earth. Roman propaganda promised pax Romana; Luke proclaims peace through a child who fulfills God's covenant with Israel and blesses the nations.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
After the angel's announcement of good news, a multitude of the heavenly host praises God. Their song ties divine glory in heaven to peace on earth for those receiving God's gracious favor.
