The Context — The History
Jesus taught in Galilee about community life, discipline, and forgiveness among disciples. Synagogue gatherings required ten men; Jesus promised his presence even in the smallest gathering united in his name.

Chapter 18 addresses humility, causing others to stumble, and reconciling sin between brothers. When two agree in prayer about anything, the Father hears—and Jesus is present where even two or three gather in his name.
