The Context — The History
Isaiah 40–55 addresses exiled Israel in Babylon, where identity as God's people seemed lost. Creation and redemption language reassured refugees that the LORD who formed nations still claimed them.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
After chapters of judgment, God speaks tenderly to Jacob and Israel. Fear is banished because the Creator-Redeemer knows them by name and declares personal ownership and rescue.
