The Context — The History
Israel stood trapped between Pharaoh's army and the Red Sea, a moment of national terror shortly after leaving Egypt. Moses, raised in Pharaoh's court, now leads slaves who have never fought as a free army.

As Egyptian chariots closed in, the people cried out in fear and blamed Moses. He commanded them not to fear but to stand firm and watch the LORD's salvation at the sea.
